Spain has been at the forefront of European jazz festivals for the last five decades. The Barcelona Jazz Festival and the Donosti Jazz Festival (Jazaldia) both held their first edition in 1966, a year before the Montreux Festival (Switzerland), and the Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival since 1977 have been the large-format samples that have certified the country as a pioneer of Jazz on the continent.
But if we had to define a Spanish city with Jazz as its cultural DNA, we would be referring to Terrassa. Located twenty miles from Barcelona, the city experiences music in all its extension, in 1971 the Jazz Cava club opened the doors and in a short time it became a place of worship for Jazz fans and programmers from all over the country. Its stage became the favorite of the pianist and modern jazz hero Tete Montoliu and under its spotlights performed all the legends who landed their bands in Europe during the fifteen years of activity. La Jazz Cava closed its doors in 1985 to move to a new location with more facilities for live music, La Nova Jazz Cava, which opened with performances in 1994. Since 1982 the city has uninterruptedly scheduled the Terrassa Jazz Festival, an open and heterogeneous event that has not only maintained the original spirit created in the old club, but has put the city at the forefront of offering the best contemporary Jazz open to the big names of the national and international genre while at the same time It has been a platform for young generations in need of places to show their musical work. With the desire to include the most diverse styles in its programming and give all fans the opportunity to feel represented in the more than 60 concerts and activities, the Festival has dedicated from the first edition a day in which blues music is the only protagonist.

Dave Specter together with his incomparable band performed an unbeatable staging of the best Chicago Blues of which he is a legitimate ambassador. A luxury for those attending the Nova Jazz Cava who contributed largely to the band renewing energy as the songs played and reaching the final stretch in a state of exultant grace. Terrific on guitar, Specter also gave ground in favor of Brother John, a renowned keyboardist with spectacular vocal register, both backed by the emblematic bass of Brazilian Rodrigo Mantovani and the drumsticks of Marty Binder. A predisposed atmosphere that illuminated one of the best blues days of the Festival in quite some time, Chicago Blues inherent to the bars of the Windy City transferred to a European club with the same energy and dedication of both the public and the musicians. On the way out, people wanted to see him here again soon.
